You may not realize it yet, but the people you surround yourself with are shaping your future. Maybe you’re in a season where you feel the pull to grow. Accelerated growth is closely tied to association. Joyce Meyer said in a sermon titled “It’s Time To Get Serious” that ”So many people are hindered in their [walk with God] because they hang out with the wrong people.” “Walk with God” can be replaced with fitness, finances, career, personal/spiritual growth, and lifestyle. Association is a choice, to a certain degree, as Mrs. Meyer explains in her video . Choosing your associations wisely can skyrocket growth in any area of your life.
Do your associations (spouse, relatives, friends, colleagues, shows you watch, the material you read, etc) inspire you to be a better you?
Jerry Savelle stated in his sermon titled “Increase by Association” how his life changed when he started to follow faith giants, Kenneth Haggin, Kenneth Copeland, Oral Roberts, and others like them. He said he did not know them personally, but he immersed himself in their teachings. They had the life he wanted for himself, so he started to mimic them.
It can go either way: you can mimic a fool and become a fool, or you can mimic a successful person and become a success.
Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.

Abraham & Lot
Genesis 13:2 states Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. Then verse 5 reads “Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.
Joseph & Potipher
Genesis 39:2-5 The Lord was with Joseph…And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand…the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that [Egyptian] had in the house and in the field.
David & his mighty men
In 1 Samuel 22:2, the distress, in debt, and discontented gathered themselves unto David, a man after God’s own heart, and he became captain over them. 32 chapters later in 2 Samuel 23:8, they were reclassified as ”mighty men” whom David had because they were associated with a mighty man of God.
Simon Peter & his fishing partners
Luke 5:5-7 And when they had [let down their net], they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Growth by Association In My Life
My husband is an athlete, so his athletic lifestyle eventually rubbed off on me.
In 2019, I could not run the full span of the beach; Daniel had to hold my hand and run alongside me.
In 2022, I’m running the full span of the beach shore by myself. I’m not out of breath, I’m slimmer, and I’m healthier.
BELIEVE & THINK BIG
Who you associate with has everything to do with how your life will turn out. You can associate with a person through resources, books, and videos. Surround yourself and/or follow people who BELIEVE & THINK BIG. And possess an insurmountable faith to believe what they think and say will come to pass.
