Akwaaba (Welcome in Ghana Twi)

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to T.H.R.I.V.E.; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

-Maya Angelou

Is this your life?

  • A good job.
  • You can pay your bills.
  • Good credit.
  • Debt-free (other than mortgage and/or your student loans).
  • Live in a nice neighborhood.
  • Take two to four vacations a year (at least one consists of an international trip).
  • Recognized as a leader in your sphere of influence.
  • You fund and support good causes with your time and money.

I had all of the above. But something inside of me desired MORE from life.

Do you too desire MORE?

  1. Choices
  2. Freedom
  3. Peace of Mind
  4. Meaning
  5. Influence

The thing is the clock is ticking.

For me I did a thing, in the words of a confidant, I “dropped my whole life in the US” and moved over 7,500 miles away from everyone and everything I knew in search of a new life (oh, and to be with the love of my life).

I’ve always known one way to live (like so many of us are taught) but now I’ve “awakened” to new possibilities and I want to encourage others to take a leap of faith to think, live and work differently.

You don’t have to follow the pattern of your parents or your grandparents or society.

I was listening to Oprah’s Master Class. She stated her grandmother was a maid, her mom was a maid, all of her aunts were maids, and her grandmother was grooming her at a young age to be a maid.

She said a voice within said she would not be a maid. Thank goodness she heeded to that voice.

I’m here to tell you don’t follow the path set for you by others, find your own by finding yourself.

Is the journey worth the risk?

Finding yourself can be difficult especially if you have a lot of emotional baggage to unpack.

While living abroad and married to a foreigner, it was (and still at times) life and relationship training on steroids.

I created Finding Chalanda Michelle to document my life lessons learned in pursuit of my higher self.

“When something evolveseverything around that thing evolves as well.”

Paulo Coelho

I’ll be honest with you. There were a lot of ups and downs, bruising and healing, learning and unlearning.

I read many “self-help (aka healing)” books and I journaled a lot. Eight months and a half later, on September 16, 2019, writing my Morning Pages as directed by The Artist Way, I journaled I’m passionate about teaching, self-care, and living a fulfilling life.

The adversities (and later on in my journey an invitation to speak at the beginning of the global pandemic) led me to my life’s message – How to T.H.R.I.V.E. during turbulent (formerly challenging) times?

In addition, I made a lifetime of memories. Experiences I am truly grateful for.

Just to name a few.

Bringing in the New Year at Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) in Dubai (UAE). Hiking to the tallest waterfall in West Africa (Hohoe, Ghana). Running through the rainforest in Capetown (South Africa) with some ultra-athletes. Vacationing for a month in Paris (France).

So that we are clear, my advice is not to quit your good paying job and move to a foreign land.

Instead, do the WORK and become serious about finding your higher self and living it out daily.

Is FEAR holding you back?

It definitely held me back. The day after the discovery of my purpose, I journaled I needed clarity. Forgetting everything I wrote the previous day.

I know now the real culprit was FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real).

What was I afraid of?

The very thing I was after…..

the life that consisted of MORE.

Can you relate?

If so, I want to help you conquer F.E.A.R. and T.H.R.I.V.E. in life – spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially.

Napoleon Hill, author of Think & Grow Rich, wrote something in his book that resonated with me,

“[W]e live in a world of over-abundance of everything the heart could desire, with nothing (but false evidence appearing real) standing between us and our desires…”

p.204

I added the false evidence appearing real in the quote.
